Empowering young leaders through municipality training.
SEEDS, in collaboration with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung – FES, conducted a training session focused on municipalities as part of FES Leadership, Awareness, and Empowerment Program “LEAP”.
“LEAP is an opportunity for young people who have the will, courage, and persistence to stand tall in a decision-making position. LEAP sees itself as an area in which the socio-political youth is guided to think of themselves as active members of society; to find their own role and actively participate in the socio-political life of their country and region.”
The training session was held in ZGHARTA district in North Lebanon, on July 8, 2023. It was designed to provide the participants with all the legal information about the formation, mandate, finances, funding, and electoral process of municipalities. Additionally, it highlighted the importance of accountability mechanisms and the vital role youth can play in public life and how they can become key drivers of the desired change.
The session adopted a participatory approach to inspire young leaders to develop plans in order to overcome challenges at the level of their community. This methodology fostered an honest and open dialogue about efficient tactics that can help them function better in the public sphere.
