Beirut, January 11, 2025 – On Saturday, Seeds for Legal Initiatives (SEEDS) in collaboration with the Order of Engineers and Architects and with the support of UNDP, launched the first training day of the " Supporting Women Leadership in Syndicates " program. The session brought together 17 women engineers from diverse disciplines, many of whom are active members of the Women Engineers Committee at the Beirut Order.

This program is designed to empower women within syndicates by equipping them with the tools and knowledge to build effective systems, enhance their working conditions, and develop and implement their initiatives.

The first training day, titled "The Impact of Legal and Cultural Frameworks on Women's Participation," was conducted by trainer lawyer Layal Sakr and featured the participation of the project's Gender Consultant, Mrs. Abir Chebaro. It was also facilitated by Lina Jarrous and Hibatallah Sukkariyeh. Topics covered included:

  • Discriminatory laws against women in Lebanon

  • Gender mainstreaming in laws and policies

  • Strategies to enhance women's representation in syndicates

The interactive sessions encouraged participants to share their perspectives, relate the training material to their personal and professional experiences, and examine how the challenges they encounter shape their daily lives.

Additionally, Mr. Fadi Hanna, President of the Order of Engineers and Architects in Beirut, attended the morning session, engaging in meaningful discussions with the trainers and participants on strategies to empower women and tackle systemic challenges within the syndicate.

This training is the first in a series of three sessions aimed at enhancing women's leadership capacities within syndicates.
